D.O.T.-Compliant Competition Drag Tire
The NT555R is a D.O.T.-compliant competition drag radial designed with additional flexibility for the weekend drag racer. The NT555R combines a high-grip compound and semi-racing construction to provide increased traction at the starting line. The NT555R is the drag radial for the street or strip.
Features and Benefits
A Perfect Pair
The NT555R drag radial works in unison with the NT555 summer performance street tire, so you can put the drag radials on the rear axle and the NT555s on the front axle. When developing both product lines, Nitto matched the tread pattern and sizing to fit modern performance vehicles.
The overall construction has been modified to improve launch performance. The NT555R was designed to achieve a balance between maximum dry performance and occasional street use.
Semi-radial construction combined with a unique reinforced package helps provide stability at high track speeds.
The tread compound is formulated to achieve a balance between treadwear and drag strip performance.

Super Chevy Magazine
We got our paws on Nitto's 20-inch NT555R and witnessed the same great performance we've come to expect from this manufacturer. Not only can you beat them up on the street for over 15,000 miles, but they'll allow you to drop 60-foot times dramatically with a simple tire pressure change at your local drag strip.
Project SSleeper is one of our most unique projects; we’ve never built an SUV for track use before … We wanted a tire that performs great on the street and track alike, so we chose to run Nitto’s NT555R in the rear because it is a fully D.O.T. compliant competition drag radial designed with the flexibility for spirited street driving.
