Desert Terrain Light Truck Tire
The Dune Grappler® light-truck tire was engineered to provide both on-road comfort and off-road performance on packed dirt, sand and loose rocks. The sidewall lugs and 3-ply polyester sidewall* construction add protection to resist sidewall punctures. The tread blocks increase rigidity, helps to reduce irregular wear and minimize road noise.

Dual Sidewall Designs
Each Grappler has two sidewall designs so you can choose how your tires look. On the Dune Grappler one side has Old English lettering and the other has traditional lettering. This feature was an engineering feat since even a small weight imbalance can cause unwanted vibrations. See how Nitto produces exceptionally uniform off-road tires even with different designs.
The intermediate void ratio between the tread blocks helps to provide off-road performance in loose dirt and sand.
Strength and Durability
Three-ply polyester sidewall construction* and sidewall lugs aid in puncture resistance.

The Dune Grappler®’s 3D grooving and tread blocks help reduce tread movement. This helps reduce irregular wear and minimize road noise.
Bridges were added between treadblocks to reduce tread flex, resulting in less heat build up to prolong the tire's performance.

... We've never had a tire-and-wheel combination that didn't ask for any weights before. One of the Nittos didn't need a single ounce to run true and vibration-free down the road, and the largest group of weights used was a mere 4 ounces, this on a 32.8-inch-tall tire that's over 11 inches wide.
The Dune Grappler's construction began with a computer simulation that aided in designing a tread pattern that isn't noisy on the street, which we really like, but at the same time offers an aggressive look and excellent traction in the dirt.
Sand. Ah, sand. If ever there was a tire for the beginner Jeeper in the sand, this is it. Normally, you've got to come off the clutch slowly and build momentum. These tires just seem to float on the sand.
